Professional Bio

(Nils Larsen), a Norwegian Sea Captain, is best known for leading the Norway's Antarctic missions. When Larsen graduated from the University of Oslo with a master's degree, he worked for a shipping firm before becoming a well-known whaler. Nils Larsen also served as a first mate on the Norvegia Antarctic expeditions, in addition to commanding a number of his own ships. In the end, Norway gained annexation of Bouvet Island and Peter I Island as a result of this scientific mission.
